Title: Emergent simplicity in stochastic individual-cell dynamics
Abstract: In this talk I will address the following questions: What emergent rules govern the stochastic growth and division of individual cells (of unicellular organisms) and transcend the details of the underlying regulatory networks? What minimal stochastic model captures these dynamics and yields these laws? Why does it work so well? How can we reconcile observations at the population and single-cell levels? How is all this wisdom to be generalized when the growth conditions themselves change with time?
